OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion

The new Mac OS X Mountain Lion

OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion is just released. This is the major release after OSX 10.7 Lion. With over 200 of new features, it is worth as a must upgrade release.

I think it is more social friendly OS, new features are more on social apps like Facebook integration (coming this fall), Twitter, Messages, Sharing, Notification Center. I like a lot Google+. But unlike Facebook it isn't there integrated in the OS, you still have to access it from Safari, or download the Google+ app yourself.

I don't do social things on my Mac, instead I use iPhone or iPad. It is more comfortable doing social network with mobile device. I usually do it on my spare time, while waiting for someone, in coffee shop. Mac is for serious work, at least for me. Mac is desktop. You have to sit down on your table when you are working on Mac. I even very rare use my laptop when I am not on my desk.

I can't wait to upgrade my Mac with this new OSX by this weekend. I'd like to test a few interesting new features, and of course, my top priority is it should talk to my file server on Ubuntu machine via Netatalk.

I think it should work, unless Apple disable it like what happened with Samba connectivity in OSX 10.7. If that is the case, I need to spend my weekend to make it work.

Please share with me if you have done it.

This is the worst upgrade from Apple I have ever seen. It took me three painful weekends just to download. Finally the download completed this morning.
